Wrong Time, Wrong Place

Young gifted and able

from the motion in the womb,

To another casualty

an infant gone too soon,

Never able to see the light

Although the day was fast approaching,

a victim of a victim of domestic violence

His whole form of life was taken from him,

Mommy was in the streets

Doing her weekend ritual,

In and out of different bars

Trying to find her a man or two,

No concern for what’s inside

Because inside she was feeling neglected,

the bar was the only place she felt she could go

With the chance of not being rejected,

Come to find out

Baby daddy was in the building,

Watching her every move

what he saw, he wasn’t feeling,

The supposed mother of his child

Acting in desperate need of some attention,

The way she carried herself

What she needed was an Intervention,

A slight pull of the arm

Only preceded what was to come,

On the ride to the house

His whole body ended up going numb,

A few choice words out her mouth

Enough to set the fire ablaze,

To a dark road the car goes

She picked the wrong time, wrong place!

Young, black, and beautiful

On a path destined for greatness,

Her most important vision in life

To make sure that she made it,

living in the inner city

struggling to survive sun up to sun down,

she felt the best option to see twenty one

was if she found a way out of town,

Focusing on her books

No time for any distractions,

Until a night out with the girls

She developed a thing for that thug passion,

allured by the finer things

The materials were corrupting her mind,

She thought she had what she needed

To make her escape in due time,

A man that claimed that he loved her

Only she didn’t know the half,

What in her eyes seemed like opportunity

But to everyone else, the wrong path,

Introduced to the life of a hustler

fast money, fancy cars, elegant homes,

Unbeknownst to the territory that came with it

Her life would go south as long as she was involved with it,

What was to be a celebration for a memento of time

Created an exhibition for an act of retaliation,

Kept in the dark about all of the enemies accumulated

Left her a prime suspect for some form of annihilation,

Unable to relinquish fabulosity

And live life at a steady pace,

another teen future star gone too soon

Caught up with the wrong people at the wrong time, wrong place

He grew up to be a standout

Matured from a boy to a man,

No matter the trials he faced

On his ground he would forever stand,

Was a ladies man at heart

But found someone to call his own,

From that point forward

always felt like he had the throne,

Beautiful wife with the kids to match

He had the picture perfect family,

But on the inside no one knew

He was battling depression and borderline insanity,

Living the reality of the recession

With the road ahead as dark as the midnight sky,

He wanted to put forth all that he had

But was deterred by the questions for what and why,

A whole family depending on his every move

He had to figure out how to make a better way,

With the inspiration provided by his offspring

He knew he would see opportunity as the night turned to day,

Rejuvenated with a positive outlook

And the ability to see another day,

He left the house focused on making a difference

And the mentality of someone ready for change,

It was a successful day indeed

A job offer to get back on his feet,

But before he was able to relay the news

Something told him to stop and pick up something to eat,

A few pizzas for celebration

Something to put a smile on the kids faces,

But he was unable to foresee

What was about to take place here,

Three robbers, six guns

And a demand for the safe,

When refused to provide any access

It turned out he was there at the wrong time, wrong place!
